At a meeting at the "Yeah, Yeah" HQ in Sydney last year, Campese (right) was told he was too far gone for the company's Laser Therapy and would need to undergo strand by strand treatment, which we are told is nothing more than a fancy wig. "He was told he would have to wear a headgear to stop it from being pulled off and wasn't so keen on the idea.

He was told he would have to wear a headgear to stop it from being pulled off and wasn't so keen on the idea. Known at the Raiders as "Cats Hair" - an unflattering nickname given to him by new Cowboy Willie Mason - Campese was told he would have to wear a headgear during football games to protect his hair if he chose to go ahead with the treatment, as used by former Australian Test cricket player Greg Matthews and quick Doug Bollinger.   -Joel Monaghan

The loss of Miller (shoulder) and Galea (fractured thumb) leaves the Raiders' stock of big men running low, with monster second-rower Tom Learoyd-Lahrs also left out of their 19-man squad. In another injury blow for the Raiders, Galea will undergo surgery on his thumb tomorrow after scans yesterday revealed a fracture. He is not expected to return until round seven.

We've had a similar situation to last year where we've received a few injuries at the start of the season, and now with round two about to start we have around six top-line first graders on the injury list, but that's football   -David Furner

Fox Sports rugby league commentator Laurie Daley offers his thoughts and predictions for round one of the much-anticipated 2010 NRL season. Parramatta's trial form has been ordinary to say the least and it will be interesting to see if the Eels have been holding something back in readiness to surprise the Dragons. A fired up Justin Poore will give the Eels plenty of mongrel up front as he battles his former club.

Sydney Roosters second-rower Anthony Cherrington is today expected to join the growing list of NRL players whose season is over before it officially begun when he undergoes scans on his injured knee. Cherrington, who was injured just minutes before full-time in Saturday night's 40-14 trial win over Parramatta at Gosford, will undergo season-ending surgery as soon as it is confirmed he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. If so, the 21-year-old forward will join St George Illawarra winger Peni

Showing no ill-effects from the facial fractures that ruined his finals series, Kimmorley was dominant against a Raiders outfit that tried hard but lacked the class to trouble their highly fancied opponents. The veteran No 7 set up his side's first try in the opening minutes with a deft pass for Michael Hodgson over, produced a pinpoint kick for Josh Morris to score the second and kept Canberra pinned deep in their own territory for much of the game. THE RAIDERS have been dealt a major blow as the NRL premiership kick-off approaches, with representative three-quarter Joel Monaghan to undergo surgery today on a badly broken thumb. The 27-year-old centre, who played for NSW in the second game of last year's State of Origin series, could miss the first five rounds of the season as a result of the break, suffered as he made a tackle near the end of the Raiders' trial defeat to the Broncos in Brisbane last weekend.
